A Guide to Invitation Suites

 

Our invitation suites are one of our most popular invitation configurations, offering versatility by allowing you to configure a suite based on the information you want to convey to your guests.

The intent of the invitation suite is to have multiple pieces, neatly bound using accessories like vellum, belly bands and wax seals – but you have many choices in how you put your suite together to make it yours and yours alone.

 

BUILDING YOUR SUITE

Alongside the main invitation card there are four sizes of inserts that you can add to the suite, three intended for additional information and one to act as a returnable RSVP card.

 

All wording for these inserts is entirely customisable to suit your information as long as it fits, so you don’t have to necessarily use the aspects we’ve included when providing a sample. 

As a guide, this is often a good use for information cards: 

  • Large Information Card (105mm x 165mm): Menu Details, Itinerary
  • Medium Information Card (105mm x 125mm): Accommodation, Taxis, Specific Policies (Confetti, Children)
  • Small Information Card (105mm x 105mm): Gift Poem, Website Information

Information cards are provided single-sided and we can offer these as variations; for example if you have close family staying at the venue but need to provide other guests local accommodation details, this can be done at no extra charge. 

RSVP cards can be provided double-sided to allow for guests to select menu choices and return them to you. A typical setup here would be to have the fully-worded menu on an information card and shortened options on the reverse of the RSVP card with tick-boxes. We’ll tailor this to account for the maximum number of guests on a single invitation.

 

CARDSTOCK AND PAPER SELECTION

When it comes to the printing of the main invitation pieces (invite, RSVP and information cards), you can opt for a number of cardstock finishes and colours. 

For white, you can opt for either “Standard Smooth” or “Luxe White”. Both have the same weight in that they’re 350gsm, however our “Luxe” cardstock option has an additional coating which implies a higher weight than 350gsm; it’s one of the best double-sided cardstocks on the market. 

If you’re looking for something more colourful then you can opt for one of our “Luxe Colours”; a selection of 28 coloured cardstocks. With our white ink printer we can print on darker colours for a unique finish. 

Designs that include watercolour artwork can only be printed on pale colours. 

ENVELOPES

For both the invitation and RSVP card we include a white or rustic kraft envelope included in the cost of the card itself. These are high-quality envelopes. 

However with the envelope being the first thing your guests see, you do have the option of upgrading the invitation and / or RSVP envelopes to one of our luxury handmade coloured options which may better match or compliment the colouring of your wedding day. 

The colours available are the same as our cardstock and paper selection, shown here, making it easy to colour coordinate elements of your suite together.

 

White and kraft envelopes are diamond-flapped and are traditionally gummed ready for use. Our handmade coloured envelopes are straight-flapped and require the use of a wax seal, envelope sticker or self-adhesive tape pen to seal. 

ADDRESSING

Addressing options offer both form and function and come in three forms; guest names added to invitations, RSVP envelopes addressed and / or invitation envelopes addressed. 

When it comes to wording your invitations, this can be done in one of three ways – they can be worded ambiguously (“You are cordially invited to join us…”), a line can be added for you to hand-write, or we can print guest names for you. 

Adding guest names can be useful if you’re opting for an adult-only wedding day, as it’s explicitly clear who is – and isn’t! – invited. 

If opting for a returnable RSVP card via post, pre-addressing the envelope for your guests saves them a job, is a nice neat finish, and frees up a little room on the RSVP card itself. 

Invitation envelope addressing is an elegant finish and will save you a ton of time in addressing each of the envelopes individually. If you opt for a luxury handmade envelope we can also add a traditional return address to the flap on the reverse. 

And as we can print in white ink, there isn’t a colour envelope that we can’t address for you. We also don’t use mail merge, so each envelope is personalised “by hand” to ensure the layout is perfect for every guest.

 

ACCESSORIES (BELLY BANDS, WAX SEALS, VELLUM JACKETS, ENVELOPE STICKERS, TAPE PEN)

Invitation suites can have a number of accessories added. The most used is a paper belly band which is both a pretty finishing touch but also functional, in that it holds multiple items neatly together. 

Beyond this you can also add a transparent vellum jacket over the top, and seal the jacket with a self-adhesive wax seal. Alternatively, you can still choose wax seals but use these traditionally, to seal the invitation envelopes. 

Our wax seals are made entirely in-house and are available in an array of colours, with the choice of our standard house design selection, a monogram of your initials, or something entirely custom. 

 

Envelope stickers can also be added as a cost-effective final touch for your envelopes – these are available as white matt, clear gloss or kraft, with the white matt versions able to be coloured in ink to further blend in with your theme.

If you’ve chosen a paper belly band then we’d recommend also adding a self-adhesive tape pen to make sure you have something to stick them shut, unless you already have a product of your own that you can use. If you opt for handmade envelopes with no wax seal or sticker, we’d also recommend a tape pen as these are not provided pre-gummed.

 

EVENING INVITATIONS

It’s often the case that some of your guests will be invited to your reception rather than all-day. For that purpose we offer simple 5” x 7” invitation cards matching the design of your main day invitations, and we print these double-sided by default, allowing an RSVP option (via phone, email, website, etc) on the reverse, as well as additional information still relevant to these guests. 

For the sake of controlling your costs we provide these cards without the additional bells, whistles and accessories, so a white or kraft envelope would be provided in the cost. If you’d like them to be more elaborate like your day invitations, please contact us for a custom order.

 

HOW TO PLACE YOUR ORDER

We built this website with transparency in mind. All of the items and options described in this guide can be chosen by selecting the appropriate option(s) from the dropdown menu(s) on the product page. 

When you do this, the pricing for your order automatically updates so you can see the impact your choices are having upon the total, allowing you to control your budget by selecting appropriately. 

At this stage wording isn’t covered or requested, we’ll do this after your order is placed – we don’t run a booking / deposit system; as soon as the order is placed we’ll get to work.

 

TIMESCALES

As no two orders are the same and we operate a first-come, first-served system, timescales can be variable as there are a number of factors to consider. 

One is the complexity / size of the order and / or the number of handmade components (wax seals, coloured envelopes) included with your order. 

However the delivery of your order is broken up into the following sections:

Materials // Proofing // Production

When an order is placed we place the materials required for your order on our weekly stock ordering cycle; this typically takes a week to reach us from our supplier. 

Within 48 hours of your order being placed we will make a request for your details so we can begin proofing; which is the process where we create your invitations in digital form for you to review. Up to three rounds are included. 

All proofing rounds will take up to three business days to be sent back to you. Therefore if we receive responses immediately and all three rounds are used, this part of the process will take up to nine business days but this naturally doesn’t include the time it takes for us to receive responses from couples. 

When we have approval to proceed we request a formal sign-off via our website; this then allows us to move forward to production which can take up to 14 days for us to dispatch. 

Invitation orders are sent tracked, typically with a 2-day turnaround.

 

ASSEMBLY

When it comes to assembling suites, we mainly leave this to couples to do so the amount of assembly required will depend on the composition of your order.

 

In short, we will: 

Ensure all pieces are cut to correct sizes
Assemble and glue any coloured envelopes
Make wax seals and add a self-adhesive backing ready for them to be used

With these aspects being covered by couples:

Folding and sticking of belly bands and vellum jackets
Adhering wax seals to envelopes or vellum jackets
Adhering envelope liners

 

We provide the option of adding a self-adhesive tape pen to your order as you’ll need an adhesive option to secure vellum jackets, belly bands and envelope liners. This can also be useful for luxury handmade coloured envelopes, as these are provided with a straight flap which isn’t gummed.
