Invitation FAQs
What is personalisable?
We treat our invitations as “semi-custom” so whilst the font selection is fixed to the design you’ve chosen, everything else is adjustable. So wording can be formal or informal, formatting and alignment is adjustable, each piece can have your own custom wording, and so on. Our invitations are flexible to suit your content and built from the ground-up each time rather than pre-determined templates.
Is assembly included?
Dependent upon your order some elements will be assembled and other items will require assembly. Pocketfolds and envelopes will be ready assembled, wax seals will be provided with self-adhesive backings but belly bands, ribbon, envelope liners and vellum jackets are sent separate ready for you to assemble.
If you did want us to assemble your invitations this is available as a custom upgrade to your order. Please contact us for a quote.
How many invitations should I order?
You typically need to only order one invitation per-household and we would then recommend you have spares on top of this, both for upgrading evening guests if required, for keepsakes and for your photographer. We’d usually suggest 5-10 more than you think you need.
What should I order for our evening guests?
We have separate evening invitations that will match your day invitations for style but a lot simpler in their composition. These guests don’t often need as much information so the invitation can be stripped back quite a bit. So for example if you have a full invitation suite of 5 pieces for your main day invitation, it may be that a double-sided invitation card will be suitable for your evening-only guests.
Some couples like to order these at the same time as their day invites, others like to come back to evening invites after the main day invites are sent.
I have a wedding website, do I need physical invitations?
We’d certainly suggest so! Whilst we think digital is fine for save the dates, invitations often rely on a more personal, tangible touch. If you have a wedding website your invitations may be a little simpler than if you don’t – for example you may need less pieces in your suite – but you don’t want to run the risk of your digital invitation going into spam, being deleted by mistake or not being delivered at all.
Outside of this, think about what your invitation says about you and your wedding; if you take a disposable approach it’s entirely possible your guests may feel the same way about it.
Do you print QR codes?
We do print QR codes. We don’t currently create these on behalf of clients – we can direct you to a recommendation or two – but we can incorporate them. QR codes can also be printed in white ink on darker media and will work fine, but we’ll always test them before the final print run to be certain.
What information do you include with invitations?
How much information you include with your invitations will depend on your event, as this differs from couple to couple. It’s for this reason that our invitations are versatile, enabling you only to order the pieces that you need. But we do recommend that less is more in most cases.
Information can often cover the following:
- The Basics: Names, date, venue, timings
- Personal: Gifts, Children, Social Media, Dress Code
- Response: Menu, RSVP, Website / QR Code
- Logistics: Accommodation, Taxis, Parking, Directions, Transportation, Itinerary
- Venue-specific: Confetti, Cash / Card Only Bar
We have a guide available on our website that goes into this in more detail which you can find here.
How long will my order take?
The average for digitally-printed invitations tends to be around 3-4 weeks based on our experience. We include up to three proofing rounds to ensure we can get everything perfect before going to print.
On average we’d suggest the following:
Design / Proofing: 1-2 weeks
Printing / Production: 1-2 weeks
Our service guarantee is as follows:
1st proofing round: within 5 business days of receipt
2nd and 3rd proofing rounds: within 3 business days of receipt
Production completed: within 2 weeks
I’m in a rush, can it be done quicker?
We do offer a fast-track service if you want to cut down on time but this is charged at 50% of your order value.
This service will change our standard turnaround times as follows:
Design / Proofing: reduces each round to within 24 hours
Printing / Production: max 1 week
If the fast-track service is required we'd recommend contacting us in advance - you can then place the order online in the usual way, we'll then bolt on the additional fee manually afterwards.
What printing options are available?
Our standard invitations / suites are digitally printed on 300-350gsm cardstock, with the option of white ink printing on darker shades.
For thicker cardstock and handmade paper you’ll be needing our Artisan collection which is where you’ll find our foil press and letterpress invitations and stationery.
Are samples available?
Samples are available, encouraged and highly recommended. You can order samples with optional swatches from any of our collections here.
I find all of the options confusing, can I speak to you about this?
We realise that there are loads of options available and at times this can become overwhelming to some! We would suggest booking in for a virtual consultation which you can do here.
