From classical and traditional to contemporary and understated, our collection of foiled wedding invitations and stationery covers a mixture of tastes and styles. Each design is hugely customisable from the pieces included to the papers used and the wording presented.
What is hot foiling?
There are two main ways that you can foil invitations and stationery, one is hot foil and the other is digital foiling. The latter works by printing a piece and adhering foil through heat by use of a laminator. In our experience the results are pretty sketchy and prone to poor coverage; digital foiling leaves a flat finish.

Why is hot foiling better than digital foiling?

By contrast hot foiling requires the engraving of a metal plate - either magnesium or brass - which is then mounted to a press and heated. The temperature needed differs dependent upon foil type and paper type but is often around 100 celsius.
Each piece is then manually printed one at a time where Laura - our foiler-in-chief - controls the level of pressure and dwell time to achieve a beautiful finish every time. Similar to letterpress, hot foiling leaves a tactile impression in cardstock which, along with the shine of quality foil, creates a luxurious end result.

How do I place an order with you?
Orders for letterpress and foil press save the dates, invitations and stationery are placed by quote only, so we'll create the order for you.
Whilst our standard digitally-printed work can be configured and ordered directly from the website, these traditional print methods open up more customisable options.
You can request a quote by contacting us or by booking in for a free, no-obligation consultation to discuss your requirements. Pricing isn't hidden, however, as you can find our price list available to view on our website here.
How long does it take?
Orders require both proofing and production. Like our digitally-printed designs proofing consists of three rounds; the initial draft (up to 5 business days) and two subsequent revisions (up to 3 business days each).But for production, foil press and letterpress has an extended production period of up to 3 weeks.
Both our presses require specific and extensive setup and testing to make sure we're going to get a perfect print for each piece. And as printing is done piece by piece, you'll need to leave us extra time compared to standard digital printing.
How long your order takes up to those three weeks will depend on quantities, items included and the number of handmade elements.
Do you offer a bespoke service?
Absolutely. The term "bespoke" means different things to different people and our designs are very flexible with regards to layout and wording.
But whether you're looking for a ground-up approach, you just want to incorporate a venue or map illustration (which we can design for you), or your own custom monogram that you've already had designed, then we can help.
The only thing we - currently - can't do is print a complete design that you already have.

Can you print my artwork?
As above if you've already had some artwork (venue, map, monogram, etc) commissioned then we may be able to use it.
But we will need to check the artwork in advance to make sure it can be used for the print method(s) you'd like and that the file is formatted correctly.
Please contact us if you want to incorporate your own artwork into our designs. Please note this does classify as bespoke work so additional charges will apply.
Do you offer more designs?
At time of writing we offer approximately 60 digitally-printed designs.
Whilst some of these designs aren't suitable for foil press and letterpress, many are, and we are working hard to showcase these designs in these print methods. There's a lot of complexity that goes into whether a design can be foil or letterpress printed, so we're testing these designs to make sure they're suitable.
For transparency our end goal is to have a focussed collection of 30-40 house designs which are available in all print methods.

What foil and ink colours are available?
For foil the standard colours are gold, silver, rose gold and copper. Other colours are available upon request but will require testing in advance to make sure they're suitable for our papers.
For letterpress we have a selection of standard ink colours available but we also have the ability to mix to Pantone shades. Please note that if you require a custom colour then a £100 surcharge will apply.
Do you assemble the invitations?
By default our invitation suites are provided for you to assemble, where we'll provide relevant guides. But we do offer a chargeable assembly service.
Some items do require making but we do this as standard, such as the making of wax seals (provided with a self-adhesive backing) and all envelopes are handmade and ready for use.
Items that require assembly would be belly bands, vellum jackets, ribbon and envelope liners. If you opt for assembly we will fully-assemble each suite of items with your chosen accessories and add each suite to the invitation envelopes. If paired with envelope addressing then all you'll need to do is hand-deliver or pop a stamp on the envelope and send in the post.
We won't, however, post individual invitations to your guests.
Do you have a minimum order?
The minimum order is currently set to 30 for foil press and letterpress save the dates and invitations.
Whilst we will provide a service for orders less than this, your order will be at a rate of 30. This enables us to both meet the minimum requirements of our suppliers but also account for the setup time of the press(es) and wastage that occurs during this setup and testing.
Can you foil a QR code?
Yes; we have tested this and it works absolutely fine. Additionally if you have your QR code digitally printed then this will also work in white ink on darker cardstock.
Can I have a sample of a specific design?
For the sake of time and cost all of our sample packs are currently pre-made in advance with a range of items across a number of our designs, so it's not a guarantee that a specific design will be in the pack.
Do you offer foil press and letterpress for day-of stationery?
Whilst not shown at time of writing we will be able to offer smaller items for the day, such as menus and place cards, for example.
However please note that because a plate requires engraving for both methods we cannot foil press and letterpress individual items, so for example place cards would be a repeated motif or monogram with the names digitally printed.
Can I combine print methods?
The most typical way of combining print methods will be foil press with digital print when using up to 350gsm cardstock. Another way is to letterpress a piece and add embossing / debossing.
At the moment foil press and letterpress can't be combined into a single item as both finishes require the use of different cardstocks to be printed correctly. We are continuing to test and explore different papers to see whether this is achievable in the future.
I'm on a budget, how can you help?
Foil press and letterpress is an investment so it is more expensive than digital printing.
However, many couples pair digitally-printed inserts with foil or letterpress invitations to keep budgets under control and the overall result is still wonderful, with the invitation itself taking centre stage.
Additional advice would be to keep information concise where you can and, if possible, use a wedding website for a lot of your long-form, conversational wording. This can ensure you can put more of your budget into the styling of your invitations.
Can a plate be re-used for another item?
We have in the past re-used a foiling plate from a save the date for the main invitation - for example where we've foiled just the names of the couple, a monogram, or a venue illustration.
If we can do this without compromising the design - for example the size of the plate is suitable for a different-sized piece - then we won't need to charge you for a second plate to be engraved.
The same goes for foiling the same elements in two places. So for example a venue illustration foiled on the main invitation may well be able to be used on a belly band - again in this instance we won't need to charge for the engraving of a second plate.
