Save the Date Information

What are save the dates?

A save the date is an initial announcement of your wedding date and location, enabling guests to make appropriate plans in advance to attend.

Should I send save the dates?

While not mandatory, save the dates are strongly advised to ensure your guests have plenty of time to plan. This becomes crucial if your wedding falls on a popular holiday. If you opt out of save the dates, it's wise to send out invitations earlier than usual to make up for it.

How many save the dates should I order?

As with invitations you will typically need to order one per household, as opposed to one per guest.

We'd also encourage the ordering of spares. So for example if you have 80 guests and most are couples, you may need around 45-50 save the dates.

When should I send save the dates?

Sending your save the dates around 12-18 months before your wedding date is a good idea. However once your date and venue are set, you can go ahead and share your exciting news whenever you feel comfortable to do so.

Do I send save the dates for evening guests?

Whilst not as crucial, it’s often recommended to include guests you intend to invite to your evening reception. We can tailor the wording for both versions in a single order; simply order the total you need and let us know how many are needed for day and evening and we’ll split the total down for each.

What information is included with a save the date?

Save the dates are typically very simple. It will be the names of the couple, wedding date, location – which can be very general at this point – and that there will be an invitation to follow. In some cases you may wish to include a website if you already have one created.

How long will my order take?

We suggest 1 week for design and 1 week for production, dependent on the composition of your order and type of printing. Three proofing rounds are included, so the number of revisions required and the speed of which we receive the details will contribute to the overall lead time.
